What you won't find:
poisonous snakes and dangerous animals, which makes hiking through the jungles and rivers safer and more pleasant. And, there are virtually no mosquitos here at Maravilla.  As our guest Jade said: "It's Costa Rica without the bugs!"

But there are many kinds of entertaining small lizards, tiny coqui frogs and many species of birds (see below)  And some surprising wildlife, such as mongooses, crabs and crayfish

Birders!!
The Elven Woods Warbler is only about a half-hour from Maravilla, in the Maricao State Forest.
In other Bird News!
"we" just hatched a nest of two mango hummingbirds, right off of our Cottage Balcony.
Also seen:  A Lizard Cuckoo's nest in our backyard mango tree.
And, over the past season, a flock of euphonias has been roosting in our Cottage mahogany tree!

Maravilla Gardens Update:  Sept 2012
Our vegetable garden is blooming and booming with lots of organic green leafies!

We are in the process of putting in an ornamental heliconia and ginger garden, featuring dozens of varieties.
